Health hazards of mobile phones Specially for Children and Pregnant Woman’s
The effect of mobile phone radiation on human health is a subject of interest and study worldwide, as a result of the enormous increase in mobile phone usage throughout the world. As of 2016, there were 7.4 billion subscriptions worldwide, though the actual number of users is lower as many users own multiple mobile phones. Do you know the mobile phones health hazards and risks caused because they keep on emitting radio waves? you are in constant exposure to these radio waves as long as you keep the cell phone near your body. We all are probably so addicted to our phones that we are unknowingly destroying our health. Here are some health risks of mobile phones you should be aware of This article examines some studies that link usage of cellphones to different diseases and dangers. Among the major problems found in people using cellphone are:
Cancers
Tumors
Weak Memory
Headaches
Depression
Heart problems
Damage to the brain
Sleep disorders
Increased accident-risk
Stress
Cancers
Many scientific studies have investigated possible health symptoms of mobile phone radiation. These studies are periodically reviewed by scientific committees to assess overall risks. A 2007 assessment published by the European Commission Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) concluded that the three lines of evidence, viz. animal, in vitro, and epidemiological studies, indicate that “exposure to RF fields is unlikely to lead to an increase in cancer in humans”.
It has not yet been completely established that cell phones are really a danger but researchers are exploring the issue, and some have found strong links that say living in an area with cell phone towers with high frequency can cause cancer. Based on different case studies, the ITAS concluded that people living within 50 to 300-meterradius of cell phone towers are at higher risk of diseases due to electromagnetic radiation. Scientists and researchers blame the electromagnetic radiation from radio waves as the agents that increase the risk of cancer in people using cell phones – especially in children.
Tumors
There have been a number of studies on the impact of mobile use on cancer to include the 13 nation INTERPHONE project that was released in 2011 and did not find a link between using a cell phone and brain tumors. There have been some studies; however, that have found potential links between mobile phone use and the risk of contracting a malignant glioma. Specifically, this study by Dr. Lennart Hardell from Örebro University in Sweden found that: A tumor is more likely to occur on the side of the head that a cell phone handset is used, and that cell phones result in a higher rate of acoustic neuromas over a period of use of 10 years or more.
Sleep disorders
Night-time has always been favourite among regular chatting But do you know that high mobile phone use was associated with sleep disorders. Major contributing factors to interrupted sleep pattern are getting awakened in the middle of the night due to mobile rings and vibration and increased use of mobiles post-evening until midnight.
The area of impact of cell phones on sleep patterns has been a focus for more than 10 years. The majority of research completed has validated some type of effect on sleeping patterns by mobile phone users. What is under debate; however, is if the negative impacts come from the radiation from phones or simply having a communication device that is “always on” next to one’s head in bed. The likely cause of the negative impact is from having a mobile phone with audible alerts set that interrupts sleep; however, the field continues to remain under study at the time of this writing.
Heart problems
Radiation from cell phones is not only associated with cancer but also with chronic diseases like heart problems. A study published in European Journal of Oncology, radiations emitted by cordless phones, including mobiles, contribute to abnormalities in heart function. Results reported that radiation causes the red blood cells (RBCs) to seep hemoglobinand lead to heart complications.
Stress
The general desperate nature of people to be available 24/7 on their mobiles is responsible to their exponentially increasing stress levels. So, the next time you use your mobile phone incessantly, think again!
Increased Accident Risk
The most significant danger associated with mobile phone use over the past ten years is the use of phones for talking or texting while driving. There have been a significant number of deadly crashes associated to using a phone while driving and the act has been made illegal in a number of countries and states in the United States. Although some of the restrictions placed on the use of mobile phones while driving are targeted to the teenage age group, distracted driving has become the number one danger associated with the use of cell phones with an estimated 20 to 50 percent of all reported crashes in the U.S. attributing driver inattention to the major cause of crash.
The chances that you check your phone aggressively while traveling is undoubtedly higher. Be it while driving or while crossing the road, mobile phone can be a potential distraction. According to the WHO, we now have a lot of research showing an increased risk of traffic accidents with mobile usage (3-4 times greater).

Health hazards of mobile phones for Pregnant Woman’s
We can’t say for certain that mobile phones are safe to use while you’re pregnant. The research that’s been done so far suggests that there is no serious risk to your health or your baby’s health from mobile phones in the short term.
In fact, there are all sorts of reasons why a child may develop behavioural problems. For example, it’s possible that if a mum uses her mobile often, she may be giving less attention to her baby in general. If a baby or young child is deprived of the attention she needs, she may develop behavioural problems. This could explain why some studies found that high mobile use was associated with later behaviour problems.
Tips for Pregnanat Woman’s how to use Mobile phone during Pregnancy
If you need to use your phone, try not to worry. You can reduce your exposure in these ways:-
Use your mobile phone as little as possible, or only when you have no alternative.
For talking, keep your cell phone away from the body.
Send a text or use a landline instead of making calls on your mobile.
Keep your calls short.
Find a spot where you can get a strong signal before making a call.
Dangers of Using Cellphones in Children
Do children have a higher risk of developing cancer due to cell phone use than adults?
Children are at a greater risk of procuring diseases from the excess usage of cell phones because their skull is thin compared to adults. Children using cell phones beyond limits run into a major risk of procuring brain damage due to increased heating of brain cells. We may have started using mobile phones later in life, but these days children right from the age of 10 and 12 want a mobile phone and have one. Their usage is uncontrolled. No one wants to use a landline anymore… What will happen after 20 and 30 years? Only time will tell. We can only hope that it is not a time-bomb which will explode when today’s children are 50 and 60 years old.
There are theoretical considerations as to why the possible risk should be investigated separately in children. Their nervous systems are still developing and, therefore, more vulnerable to factors that may cause cancer. Their heads are smaller than those of adults and consequently have a greater proportional exposure to the field of radiofrequency radiation that is emitted by cell phones. And, children have the potential of accumulating more years of cell phone exposure than adults do.
