What Is Gingivitis

Gingivitis is a very common and mild form of gum disease. It is basically a mild infection of the gums , swelling and bleeding of gum tissue caused by plaque, which is a transparent, sticky film of food debris and bacteria that does not receive the proper cleaning becomes a yellowish substance called tartar that leads to gum disease or periodontal the teeth to become loose and probably falling.  If left untreated, gingivitis can become serious and lead to severe infection even tooth loss. Gingivitis is also associated with an increased risk of diabetes, heart attack and lung disease.

According to the CDC Division of Oral Health, nearly 50% of American adults and more than 70% over the age of 65 suffer from gum disease, also known as periodontitis or periodontal disease.

Cause of Gingivitis

The causes of gingivitis include Hormonal imbalances such as pregnancy, menstruation, Diseases such as diabetes and osteoporosis, emotional stress, excessive smoking, use of tobacco, age, diabetes, certain medications, crooked teeth,  broken fillings, , genetics, compromised immunity, dry mouth and a poor diet.

A person with gingivitis will typically have one or more of the following signs and symptoms:

Gingivitis symptoms include irritation, redness, swelling, bleeding of the gums, bad breath, White spot, pus between gums or teeth,  loose teeth, receding gums, and gums that become tender and bleed, especially while brushing or flossing.

Brush your teeth with oral-b with angled bristles.  Rinse your mouth with a mouth wash that contain eucalpto, menthol, methyl salicylate, and thymol, hold the mouth wash in your mouth for 60 seconds. Do not swallow the mouth wash. Spit out the mouthy wash. The above step should be repeated at least two times on a daily basis. Good oral health habits, brushing at least twice a day and getting regular dental checkups can help prevent gingivitis. There are many home remedies that can relieve the pain. Home Remedy for Gingivitis- Salt, Turmeric Powder and Mustard Oil

Make a paste of 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and mustard oil. Apply it to your gums and leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water. Follow this treatment at least once daily for a few weeks.

Green Tea Home Remedy for Gingivitis

Take 1 Tablespoon green tea leaves. 1 cup of hot water and mix honey into it for develop taste. Steep the green tea leaves in hot water for 3-5 minutes. Strain and add honey according to your choice. Drink this herbal tea every day until to get rid of gingivitis.

Sage Leaf Home Remedy for Gingivitis

The anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties of sage have made it a home remedy for centuries. Chop up a fresh sage leaf or take a pinch of dried sage, rub it on the infected area of your gum and then pack it on the infected area. Leave it for 2-3 minutes. Baking soda is a popular gingivitis home remedy; it works as a natural antiseptic to help prevent infections. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with warm water to make a paste. Apply this paste to the gums. Leave it on for 1 or 2 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water. Use this treatment 2 or 3 times a week.

Aloe Vera Gel Home Remedy for Gingivitis

Take an aloe leaf. Cut the leaf sideways and transfer the gel present inside to a container. Apply a layer of this gel on the affected gums. Leave it for 10-15 Minutes with plain water. Apply this Aloe Gel twice a day.

Lemon Juice Remedy for Gingivitis

Take 1 tablespoon of a lemon juice, a little salt mix with in a glass of warm water to make a paste. Use this solution as a mouthwash after brushing your teeth. Does this twice daily repeat the process until you see improvement.

Coconut Oil Remedy for Gingivitis

Take 2 Tablespoons virgin coconut oil. Take a little quantity of Lukewarm water. Swish coconut oil in your mouth for 5-10 minutes then spit out the oil and rinses your mouth with lukewarm water. Do this every day, either in the morning or at night.
