Video has become an essential part of life with more people than ever carrying around a video camera and an Internet connection in their pocket. Facebook Instant Video, Messenger application got a video calling feature back in April 2015, but now it’s introduced a second one that’s meant to have a rather different use case.
Facebook has added video calling to its Messenger application, allowing users to chat with each other face-to-face, using their smartphones. The new Instant Video feature allow users to bring their text conversations to life.
“It’s perfect for sharing quick moments with friends who aren’t right by your side or making your conversations richer by seeing each other face-to-face when you are messaging,” said Facebook in a blog post.
The news comes just two weeks after Google launched its own video-calling application called Duo.
Facebook Instant Video works using your mobile number, so once you’ve downloaded the app and logged in using a Google account, you can immediately video call anyone on your contacts list who also has the app.
